The image shows an outdoor gathering in a garden setting on a sunny day. Three people are seated on blue folding chairs in the foreground. An older woman wearing sunglasses, a white visor, and a blue sweater smiles and chats with a younger woman with long, blonde hair dressed in a red plaid jacket. Next to them, an older man wearing glasses, a light purple shirt, and beige pants sits quietly. Behind them, other people stand and walk along a pathway surrounded by greenery and trees, enjoying the garden and the pleasant weather. The atmosphere appears relaxed and social.

As part of Dementia Action Week, Thatcham Town Council hosted a free Garden Party on Friday, May 17th in the Jubilee Sensory Garden on Brownsfield Road. The Garden Party aimed to support and raise awareness for individuals and families affected by dementia. Guests enjoyed live music from Sion Wiley who played acoustic songs from across the decades, and contributed to a collaborative piece of doodle-artwork curated by Magpie and The Mob’s Libby Witney.

Regular Sensory Garden expert Sally Mitchell was on hand with hints and tips, and Jane Fletcher gave an interesting talk about how to record a life’s worth of memories with loved ones.

There are free-to-attend coffee mornings held in the Jubilee Sensory Garden held on the last Thursday of each month, with a variety of activities to do each month.
